DEVICES FOR TREATING AGEING SKIN

Any aesthetics clinic or salon wanting to invest in a light- or energy-based device should always turn to licensed, reputable suppliers. It’s vital that operators undergo in-depth training with the supplier to ensure effective outcomes and patient safety

Nordlys

As we grow older, our skin changes. It becomes thinner and loses its smoothness and then those unwanted pigmentation and small vessels appear. Over time, sun exposure on the face, hands, arms and chest can accelerate the signs of ageing.

Sun damage can result in a variety of vascular and pigmented lesions that includes dark spots, freckles, uneven pigmentation, diffuse redness and then the big one, age spots.

The Nordlys by Candela, distributed by Radiant Healthcare, uses the unique Selective Waveband Technology (SWT), which is defined by dual filters and sub millisecond pulses for exceptional photo rejuvenation and vascular treatments, as well as hair removal.

This is a multi-platform system as one can also add on the 3 laser applicators, namely the Frax 1550, the Frax 1940 as well as the Nd:Yag.

CACI Synergy

CACI Synergy’s treatments are clinically proven to reduce wrinkle depth by up to 75% and improve skin elasticity by up to 88%. This device offers a variety of exclusive technologies, including the unique S.P.E.D® Dual Action Technology, which provides simultaneous skin rejuvenation and facial toning.

Microcurrent therapy delivers tiny electrical impulses that mirror the body’s own natural bioelectrical field. This form of stimulation helps to re-educate the muscles and can lift, firm and tone. Microcurrent in aesthetics is commonly described as ‘facial toning’ or ‘nonsurgical face lifting’ due to the dramatic lifting effect that it has on facial muscles and contours.

S.P.E.D® (Simultaneous Photo Electrical Delivery) microcurrent LED technology is an enhanced technology that delivers simultaneous dual action facial toning and skin rejuvenation, clinically proven to deliver quicker, better, and longer lasting results than standard microcurrent. This technology combines the original CACI facial toning technology with high brilliance pulsed LED light stimulation.

LED light therapy utilises the therapeutic properties of red and blue light to calm the skin, neutralise bacteria and reduce redness in order to help tackle acne, blemishes and scar tissue. Blue light calms the skin and destroys skin bacteria, while red light stimulates new tissue growth and cellular regeneration. Combined red and blue light is extremely effective in the treatment of acne and blemishes.

CACI Synergy offers a variety of handpieces, which include the Orbital Abrader, Ultrasonic Actuator, Microcurrent Probes and Wrinkle Comb, enabling the user to offer up to 110 Treatment programmes on one system.

Medilase is the sole distributor of CACI systems in Southern Africa.

Lumecca

Lumecca is InMode’s FDA-approved breakthrough intense pulsed light (IPL) skin rejuvenation technology that allows clinicians to treat a variety of skin types and conditions with just a session or two.

Delivering up to 3x more energy in the 500-600 nm range for unparalleled clarity, Lumecca delivers improved efficacy for vascular and pigmented lesions with reduced treatment times due to its large spot size and high pulse repetition rate.

Lumecca operates using photothermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. In just 1to 3 sessions, Lumecca improves the appearance of: age spots (red/brown pigmentations); vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma; rosacea (redness); freckles; and sun damage.

Lumecca, available from Sternlaser, can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun. This often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms.

RedTouch

With a growing market demand in skin rejuvenation treatments, there is a need for new technologies that are able to provide users with either minimal or non-invasive treatment sessions. Deka, Italy, developed RedTouch, a new wavelength system for a new approach to anti-ageing procedures that targets collagen directly.

RedTouch is the first and only system that uses the 675nm selective wavelength: A wavelength never used before and the first one to react with collagen. The specific 675nm wavelength has an elective absorption by collagen. Compared to the systems currently on the market that target water, the RedTouch system acts directly on the collagen component contained at dermal level. This is where the secret of its success comes from. Microzones of thermal damage (about 1mm diameter and 600 - 700µm penetration depth) induce an immediate consecutive collagen fibres denaturation that leads to a neocollagenesis process.

With an integrated scanner system, the RedTouch (patent pending) handpiece has been designed to get the best performance in transmitting energy to the skin with optimised ergonomics. This system offers a Virtually Zero-Downtime Procedure. Due to an integrated cooling system and the 675nm wavelength selectivity, the epidermal layer is not damaged, thus minimising the side-effects and related downtime.

RedTouch is available from Hitech Lasers.

SIX Aesthetix RF Microneedling

Often referred to as a non-surgical face-lift, Fractional RF Microneedling is a safe and minimally invasive energybased procedure. It combines microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy or CIT) and radiofrequency (RF) technologies to penetrate the skin at a precise depth with tiny needles, before releasing a burst of radiofrequency energy (heat). This action stimulates your skin to begin healing and thus collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production are also encouraged. As the weeks pass, your skin becomes tighter, smoother and more lifted as it heals.

SIX Aesthetix RF Microneedling uses a 25 pin or 49 pin or 89 pin microneedle head to deliver fractional radiofrequency energy into varying levels of the skin, including the deeper layers where the treatment is most beneficial. Unlike other devices which only deposit energy in the surface of the skin, SIX Aesthetix RF Microneedling delivers energy below the surface where it’s needed most to help revitalise and regenerate the tissue. This unique delivery of energy allows us to achieve optimal results with little to no downtime on all skin types.

Radiofrequency energy is not absorbed by melanin, which decreases the risk of post inflammatory hyper pigmentation and the heat is delivered by the needles at precise depths. The needle depth is adjustable to deliver the energy precisely where it is needed.

Treatment areas are the face, neck, hands, chest and body. The following conditions can be treated: pigmentation, wrinkles, fine lines, skin tightening, scars, stretch marks, acne / acne scars, open pores, excessive sebum secretion, rosacea and hyperhidrosis.
