The Dry SEASON

Because winter air contains considerably less moisture than summer air, any salon client can end up suffering from dry skin during the cold months. Here are some professional products and treatments that can help to alleviate the situation

Beauté Pacifique

The Serum Symphonique from Beauté Pacifique is a hybrid Hyaluronic Serum that combines 23 active ingredients into a powerful moisture booster with advanced anti-ageing peptide technology. Its ingredients include two types of active hyaluronic acid that provide your skin with immediate additional moisture, which stays at a significantly elevated level throughout the day.

Your client’s hyaluronic acid levels are further boosted by a triple peptide cocktail that improves the skin’s own natural production of hyaluronic acid, resulting in smooth, plump and more youthfully looking skin. Secondly, it relaxes the skin’s micro-musculature, smoothing out fine expression lines. Lastly, this serum boosts the skin’s own defence against damage from both visible and invisible light.

The penetration of the active ingredients is boosted by Beauté Pacifique’s own Papain-based exfoliation concept, which gently removes dead skin cells from the top layer of the epidermis, enabling better penetration of the active ingredients. Serum Symphonique provides perfectly moisturised skin with a beautiful natural glow, ideally preparing your skin for your preferred day cream and make up.

Also from Beauté Pacifique is the Symphonique Vitamin A Infusion treatment, which combines ancient beauty therapeutic methods with the latest anti-ageing vitaminbased skin science. This treatment takes the client on a journey incorporating medically proven remedies from the ancients with the scientifically proven ingredient breakthroughs of the future. The Infusion facial enhancement treatment includes Vibrational Sound Therapy to bring about equilibrium re-alignment and deep relaxation clinically proven by the University of California.

Esse

The Esse Live Probiotic Experience Treatment is the world’s first facial treatment to rewild the skin with live biotherapeutics. This bespoke facial offers 5 billion living probiotic bacteria, paired with a combination of ancient and modern massage techniques to lift, define and sculpt the skin.

Designed to boost collagen production, reduce inflammation and restore the skin’s ecosystem using prebiotics, probiotics and certified organic ingredients, the bio-clinical science based Esse Live Probiotic Experience offers in-clinic microbiome intervention. The result is deeply hydrated, rejuvenated and renewed skin that shifts the microbiome to a healthy new normal, slowing down the ageing process.

Esse’s unique 2-part Probiotic Ampoule contains 5 billion live cfu /ml and when used as an occasional boost, this level of microbiome intervention can shift the skin towards a ‘new normal’ that is less prone to the sub-clinical inflammation that leads to an increased rate of ageing. The product is ideal for ageing skin as well as skin with microbial imbalances.

RègimA

From RégimA Zone, the “On Q” Quenching Facial Oil is formulated with two outstanding anti-ageing active ingredients, the first being prickly pear (a Certified Ecocert ‘Cosmetofood’), which is extremely rich in antioxidant vitamins E and K and essential fatty acids, Omega-6 and linoleic acid. This ingredient deeply nourishes, softens wrinkles, stimulates new cell growth, restores elasticity, calms inflammation and brightens skin, improving pores and promoting a more flawless complexion.

Prickly Pear Seed Oil has the ability to retain moisture in the driest of conditions because it comes from a cactus plant, to maintain optimal skin nourishment. Essential fatty acids in Prickly Pear Oil keep the collagen layer moist and healthy, subsequently keeping pores tight and skin firmer.

The other anti-ageing active ingredient in “On Q” Quenching Facial Oil is BV-OSC (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate), a powerful oil-soluble vitamin C, which provides multiple anti-ageing benefits. It penetrates quickly, protects cells from UV damage, improves skin tone due to anti-tyrosinase activity, whilst promoting healthy collagen synthesis, resulting in a stronger, resilient, clearer, brighter, more even-toned and smoother complexion.

This product contains oils such as camellia sinensis seed oil, hazelnut seed oil (Corylus Avellana), apricot kernel oil, moisturising rosehip (Rosa Canina Fruit Oil), and blackcurrant seed oil (Ribes Nigrum Seed).

NuSpa

NuSpa Hyaluronic Acid Serum includes 5% organic hyaluronic acid to dramatically restore hydration levels.

A clinical trial outcome of the product showed the following results: improved texture and more firm skin within 10 minutes; hydrated, soft and elastic skin for 24 hours after application; a more radiant and brighter skin within 28 days; and up to 90% increased skin hydration, smoothness and plumpness.

This product is ideal to use with needling devices and as home care serum daily.

I am me

There are three products in the Moisture Infuse line of recently launched South African brand, I am me, that aid in hydrating the skin. These products contain Trehalose, an extremozyme that mimics the sugars naturally found in NMF (Natural Moisturising Factors), drawing in moisture and thus assisting the skin to remain hydrated. Trehalose has been shown to additionally protect fibroblasts to keep the skin structurally sound.

These products contain watermelon seed oil (naturally high in unsaturated fatty acids); linoleic and oleic acids; and tocopherol (part of the vitamin E family). These unsaturated fatty acids are readily absorbed into the skin, offering effective hydration.

Research around panthenol has shown that it decreases transepidermal water loss, making it a great moisturising ingredient.

Other active ingredients include malus domestica fruit cell culture extract, aloe, hyaluronic acid, cannabis sativa, pomegranate seed oil and cucumber. New generation active ingredients provide intense hydration in the dermal matrix, leaving the skin smooth, plump and revitalised.

The three hydrating I am me products are: Moisture mist; Moisture infuse and cream; and Moisture infuse serum.

Derca

The Bio Deluxe Day & Night cream includes complex ingredients like omega 3, 6 and 9 oils, hyaluronic acid and retinol to reduce the signs of ageing and turn back the clock by stimulating new collagen development. They contain deep moisturising properties.

Derca’s Anti-ageing Gold Elixir Oil is a dual-phase elixir that contains nutrient-rich natural oils. These include Inca Inci, jojoba seed, evening primrose and rice bran with a combination of squalene and ubiquinone (Co-Enzyme Q10), all helping to soften the look of emerging lines and wrinkles, while visibly firming skin with increased collagen production.

Anesi

Fresh Mix Jelly Hyaluronic Acid (HA) by Anesi Lab is an exceptional enhancer that plumps, hydrates and brightens the skin. This instantly activated, customised moisturising gel is infused with potent ingredients to deliver their powerful benefits to the skin. Hyaluronic acid, with a water-trapping effect, recently mixed with the Hydra-Gel base to provide intense hydration, eliminates dehydration and the dull appearance of the skin. It fills in wrinkles, firms and illuminates the complexion.

The Hydra-Gel revitalises and hydrates, visibly improving the appearance of the skin, which appears radiant and fresh. Hyaluronic acid, combined with azelaic acid, glycine and bisabolol, provides an intensive moisturising treatment that plumps, softens and improves the flexibility of the skin.

DermaFix

The DermaFix SOS Facial has been formulated for even the most sensitive skin, and when combined with DermaFix HydraSooth, brings together the most hydrating ingredients that the brand has to offer. These include aloe vera gel, calming botanicals, hyaluronic acid, watermelon fruit extract, vitamin E and more. This soothing, anti-inflammatory skin treatment reduces redness and supremely hydrates, promoting skin recovery for a glowing skin all year round. As all DermaFix treatments are customisable and can be combined with advanced skin care devices, superior results will follow.

DermaFix Hyalu⁷ Boost Hyaluronic Concentrate offers an advanced hyaluronic acid formulation, incorporating an optimised ratio of 7 unique molecular weights to provide maximum hydration, whilst stimulating hyaluronic acid production within the skin for deeper moisturisation and anti-ageing benefits. DermaFix Hyalu7 Boost works to improve skin firmness and elasticity and reducing water loss from the first application.

The DermaFix B₃ Boost contains optimal levels of niacinamide and cannabis sativa seed oil along with a plethora of other ingredients. This scientifically advanced formulation works to hydrate and repair the skin’s barrier, as well as calm inflammation that can often be associated with a dehydrated skin.

SIX

From SIX, the Probiotic Moisture Mask is packed full of active probiotic ingredients to work at repairing and strengthening the skin. A must for normal, dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin.

This powerful formula strengthens the barrier of the skin, boosts protein and lipid structures in the skin, whilst accelerating the rate of epidermis renewal. The addition of plankton reduces oxidative stress, protecting the cells and fighting the signs of premature ageing.

Ingredients include: inulin; lactobacillus ferment; maltodextrin; oligosaccharide; brown seaweed extract; plankton extract and laminaria hyperborean.

Also from SIX, the Hydrating Eye & Lip Mask is a nourishing treatment mask with anti-ageing properties to regenerate, hydrate and soften the eye and lip contour area. It contains argireline, described as ‘Botox in a jar’ as it plumps the skin and prevents the formation of lines and deep wrinkles.

Monteil

New to the South African market, the Monteil brand from Germany has a Hydro Cell range best suited for this time of the year. This range combines active ingredients from marine plants and algae.

Hydro-active factors detoxify, activate and protect the skin cells. Consequently, the skin is provided with a high level of moisture and at the same time protected effectively against skin ageing factors, such as everyday environmental pollution.

All Hydro Cell products are characterised by their high tolerability and have been dermatologically tested.

Ingredients include sea mayweed, algae gel (extract from red algae), hyaluronic acid, haloxyl (peptide mixture), pullulan, almond oil and shea butter.

Sknlogic

The Sknlogic Hydrating serum is an intense treatment for additional hydration and anti-ageing support. This light cream-concentrated serum is based on a high hydration profile of ingredients that delivers immediate moisture to saturate and refresh dehydrated skin. The serum also complements the rejuvenation process.

Formulated with hyaluronic acid, argan oil, shea butter, olive oil, fig extract and grape seed oil, it does not contain parabens, sulphates, synthetic fragrance and synthetic colourants, lanolin derivatives, mineral oil or MITs.

Sothys

The Sothys Hydra Hyaluronic Acid4 Range represents a genuine concentration of innovation to act deep within the skin. This new programme combines the following elements (depending on the product): the power of patented 1055 boletus extract, which is a hyaluronic acid booster; the dual action of patented organic rowan berry peptides; the efficiency of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid; and the ultra-targeted action of a brand new microhyaluronic acid.

A total of 4 sources of hyaluronic acid and 2 patented active ingredients are derived from Sothys Advanced research. www.probeauty.co.za

From iS Clinical, the Hydra-Cool Serum is formulated to rejuvenate, hydrate and visibly soothe the skin. This refreshing, powerful and penetrating serum combines superior antioxidants with essential botanicals and bio-nutrients.

Hydra-Cool Serum is designed for all skin types and for all ages, and is gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin.
