Environ Cool Peel Technology

Environ’s unique Cool Peel Technology is a non-invasive, intelligent skin peeling system, developed by Dr Des Fernandes (‘Dr Des’) to safely and effectively help refine, revive and brighten the skin.

Dr Des (and Environ) has been the lone voice for decades in the world of peels when it comes to a ‘low pH and low concentration’. His reason being that Environ does not want to damage the skin, but rather work intelligently work with the skin. Thus the Environ Cool Peels were designed to be ‘seen’ upon application with a thicker texture, which also allows for ease of application for the skincare professional. The peel may be modified by either applying more peel, or increasing the amount of time that the peel is on the skin. All Environ peels are slow drying, which means they are safe and more precise.

In addition, the Environ Peeling system works synergistically with Environ Vitamin A so that while stimulating new skin cells, the skin is already treated or ‘fed’ with vitamin giving a better result.

Says Dr Des: “The skin cells / keratinocytes are meant to go through a process of keratinisation – where they move up to the horny layer and slough off. We do not want to remove the outer most layers and expose the keratinocytes that are not ready, as this can lead to further skin concerns that can be avoided. They are there to protect the skin. Conversely, if the upper layers do not slough off, it will result in a thicker horny layer than normal. Therefore, the best way to treat this is by offering mild peels to only remove the excess while maintaining the water-proofing barrier.”

Environ offers the skin professional a variety of peels which are designed to treat all skin types and concerns and which offer minimal downtime but are effective and safe. Cool Peels are partnered with Environ’s Electro Sonic Dual Technology to take the results to the next level. This is the perfect marriage to encourage product penetration and the stimulation of growth factors to reveal a skin ‘reborn beautiful’.

A course of 6 to 12 peels is recommended for optimal results.

Thalgo Peeling Marin

From Thalgo’s Peeling Marin cosmeceutical line, the Intensive Resurfacing Night Serum is a powerful exfoliating serum enriched with a high dose of acids from fermented micronised algae and glycolic and gluconic acids to refine the skin’s texture.

This professionally inspired serum offers intense renewal, refining the skin texture and providing a visible ‘new skin’ effect in just seven days. Fresh and fragrancefree, the serum should be applied in the evening to the face and neck before the night cream. It is recommended for use as part of a 21-day course combined with the Micro-Peeling Water Essence for optimal results.

Thalgo’s Micro-Peeling Water Essence is formulated as an everyday water essence with a gradual peel effect that smooths and refines the surface of the skin. With a 3% concentration of acids from fermented micronized algae and a 1.5% concentration of glycolic and gluconic acids, this gentle micro-exfoliator offers a gradual ‘new skin’ effect. Simply apply this textured fresh water to the face and neck every morning before the day cream, either with your fingertips or a cotton pad, for a refreshed and revitalized complexion. Combine with Thalgo’s Intensive Resurfacing Night Serum for best results

DermaFix

DermaFix Skin Professionals recommend reserving the winter months for peeling when sun exposure is decreased, resulting in a lowered incidence of skin sensitivity and hyperpigmentation related to sun exposure.

Peels from DermaFix are to be performed by appropriately trained skin professionals only. The power of Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, TCA and Vitamin A Propionate in a variety of peel formulations allow for a highly customizable peeling approach to multiple skin concerns. The reigning Queen of DermaFix peels is the 3 or 4 stage Progressive Peel. Yielding safe, satisfying results, this is not a treatment to be missed.

All peels should only be undertaken after a period of preparation. Melanin control is essential before and after any peeling treatment. DermaFix Melanoderm is our toprecommended corrective for the treatment and prevention of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

It is essential to use sun protection following any resurfacing treatment. DermaFix DermaShield SPF 40/50 broad spectrum UVA/UVB/HEV SANS approved light protection makes for excellent post peel care. If your skin feels sensitive following a peel treatment, you could benefit from DermaFix HydraSooth. This light weight, cooling and calming formulation assists in restoring comfort to the skin following any advanced skin resurfacing treatment, sun burn or other ablative treatment.

pHformula

An international dermatological skincare company, pHformula uses pharma-grade ingredients – the highest and purest quality raw materials – in its product formulations and in its approach to chemical skin resurfacing.

The brand practices the art of controlled chemical skin resurfacing at a pharma cosmeceutical level. Its non-invasive, customised skin resurfacing treatments are the result of more than three decades’ of scientific, medical and skin health experience.

Treatments are targeted at the specific needs of pHformula’s four identified skin disorders ranging from ageing, hyperpigmentation, skin redness to acneprone skin. Key ingredients are applied to the skin combined with acids and the brand’s unique delivery vehicle complex, PH-DVC™. All the elements together deliver protons to the different layers of the skin in a controlled manner. This release of protons results in accelerated cell turnover and optimum skin regeneration with no downtime.

The SOS repair cream from pHformula provides protection, hydration and comfort to extremely dry or sensitive skin, as well as skin in need of intensive repair, as in following a peel.

This rich emollient helps to maintain moisture in the skin, attracting water to it and contributing to strengthen the skin barrier function. It enhances wound healing, has soothing properties and helps to reduce the signs of irritation and redness.

Beauté Pacifique

The Bio-Dermabrasion Peeling Wipes from Beauté Pacifique swiftly eliminate dead skin cells and gently reduce the appearance of fine lines. They even out the complexion leaving the skin radiant, soft and luminous.

Recommended use is 1-3 times a week on cleansed skin, using the smooth side of the bio-degradable wipe for a gentle peeling, and the opposite/ abrasive side for a more intense peeling. Use on face, neck and décolleté avoiding eye and lip areas. Slight tingling after application is normal. Rinse off if preferred.

Main ingredients include Niacinamide (also known as vitamin B3); Mandelic Acid (a mild alpha-hydroxy acid); gluconolactone (a polyhydroxy acid); and Capryloyl Salicylic Acid (a lipohydroxy acid meaning it is fat-soluble); and Alpinia Speciosa Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, as well as cucumber, caffeine and ginger root extract.

Vitaderm

Vitaderm combines alpha- and beta hydroxy acids in its Advanced Exfoliation System for an epidermal resurfacing effect and target-driven results.

Suitable for all skin types and positioned as an introductory peel, the 20% Fruit Acid Peel revitalise skin with a blend of naturally occurring fruit acids that effectively exfoliate into the deeper layers of the skin to increase cellular renewal and boost radiance. It is formulated with a blend of Glycolic-, Citric- and Lactic Acids set at a pH of 3.4. Perfect for fine lines and wrinkles, dehydration and rough-textured skin.

Vitaderm’s 30% Lactic Acid Peel is recommended for flushing excess pigment from the skin for a brighter, more even-toned complexion. A blend of Lactic-, Glycolic- and Citric Acids set at a pH of 3.0.

The 30% Hydroxy Acid Peel is Vitaderm’s most active peel treatment and offers the ultimate in skin revitalisation. This is a blend of Alpha- and Beta Hydroxy Acid blend of Glycolic-, Pyruvic-, Lactic-, Mandelic-, Citric- and Salicylic Acids set at a pH of 3.2.

Six

Six Skincare offers a number of peels, including the Azelaic Acid 25% Peel. Azelaic acid is in a class of medications called dicarboxylic acids. It works to treat rosacea by decreasing the swelling and redness of the skin. This acid works to treat acne by killing the bacteria that infect pores and by decreasing production of keratin, a natural substance that can lead to the development of acne. It also prevents what’s known as melanin synthesis, the ability of your skin to produce pigments that can vary your skin’s tone.

Spa Life

The Spa Life mani/pedi resurfacing peel brand offers a total different concept by using Phenol acid which removes groups of dead skin cells at a much faster rate than AHAs. The alkaline Ph loosens bonds between dead skin cells, allowing it to slough off quicker. This treatment is paired with a neutralizing mani/pedi soak to prepare the skin prior to the peel.

Aftercare includes the Spa Life heel and elbow balm. The high concentration Urea based cream is ideal for use on areas with excessively dry skin where nourishment is needed as well as cracked heals for skin repair and healing.
