Ashley Park @naominailsnyc
It was celebville deluxe at fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala, which unfolded at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on 1 May.
The theme honoured the late, legendary creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, and saw the majority of guests attired in black and/or white, his favourite colours.
Actress, dancer and singer, Ashley Park, wore one of the more unusual nail looks of the night, created by Naomi Yasuda, who wrote on her Instagram page @ naominailsnyc: “The talented @ ashleyparklady wearing custom @ michaelkors, including fingerless gloves that pay homage to Karl Lagerfield. The nails were inspired by this biker chic element, using Licorice by @manucurist and incorporating grommets throughout.”
Rita Ora @naominailsnyc
British singer Rita Ora, who attended with new husband Taika Waititi, had a completely over the top yet fabulous set of nails designed by Naomi Yasuda, who attached long, dangling strings of chains and pearls to the star’s black nails. This look was clearly a nod to Coco Chanel’s enduring love of wearing a multitude of long chains and strings of pearls around her neck.
Phoebe Bridgers @naominailsnyc
American singer Phoebe Bridgers was another of Yasuda’s clients on Met Gala night. Yasuda’s Instagram post read: “@ phoebebridgers looking beyond radiant in a head-to-toe @toryburch look, complete with a classic French manicure painted in black to match the chic gothic vibes.”
Michaela Cole @naominailsnyc
Yasuda also created nails for ‘Black Panther’ star, Michaela Cole, and wrote: “Michaela Cole, a goddess in custom @Schiaparelli, deserves only the best – Bronze Chrome nails to accent the over 135,000 crystal beads on this hand embroidered look.”
Sydney Sweeney @nailsbyzola
‘Euphoria’ actress Sydney Sweeney’s ethereal sparkly gown was perfectly complemented by her pretty nails from Zola Ganzorigt, who wrote on @nailsbyzola: “We wanted to mimic Sydney’s beautiful embellished Miu Miu gown on her nails by creating a crystal ombre look. For the base nude color, we opted for something sheer and skin-like. I used my ultimate favourite combo Bubble Bath, topped with Bare My Soul to create the chic and classic look. To make it even more glamorous, we added crystals. The look perfectly tied into the Met Gala theme of timeless fashion.”
Elle Fanning @nailsbymarysoul
Cuban celebrity manicurist Mar y Sol Inzerillo created ‘lace nails’ for Elle Fanning, to match her lacey Vivienne Westwood dress.
Karlie Kloss @nailsbyemkudo
For supermodel Karlie Kloss, Emi Kudo opted to create an ‘elevated, timeless French manicure’ using mid-length, almond-shaped press-ons.
Marion Cotillard @tombachik
Her distratcting Joan of Arc-like hairdo aside, French actress and Oscar winner, Marion Cotillard, wore a set of nails designed by celebrity ‘MAN-icurist’ Tom Bachik, who described them as: ‘Marion’s Mirrorball Met Mani’. He continued: “I started with @welovecoco La Base Camelia and painted two coats of La Diable En Chanel for a black base on Marion’s nails. Then I buffed in a Mirrored Chrome Powder and sealed the final look with a gel top coat.”

The micro-French mani is trending!
The ever popular French manicure is always evolving and a recent version that has been popping up all over is what’s known as the micro-French, which features a really skinny smile line at the tip of the nail.
Sometimes the smile line is so minimalist you have to look very closely to actually notice it. And, it’s appearing in all sorts of colours as well.
The micro-French has been spotted on the red carpet at the recent Cannes Film Festival, on stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Alessandra Ambrosio, Jennie Kim and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Global trendsetter and reality star, Kylie Jenner, and her supermodel sister, Kendall, were recently spotted sporting identical micro-French manis.
