The 95th Academy Awards (the ‘Oscars’) took place in Hollywood on 12 March with the film industry’s glitterati out in full force.

Oscar night’s most stylish nail look was seen on Vanessa Hudgens, whose Zola Ganzorigt-created nails rocked a monochrome design.

On her @nailsbyzola Instagram page, Ganzorigt wrote: “We wanted to do something classic and chic that complements Vanessa’s vintage Chanel dress, while being unique at the same time. Her classic look called for classic shades. She loves adding a twist when it comes to her look and so while we did black and white nails, we spiced it up with a half reversed and half traditional French nails”.

In contrast, Lady Gaga’s make-up was so striking she opted for pale pink, short, shiny lip gloss nails for a subdued look on the hands.

A perfect match in terms of dress and nail hue was seen on Jessica Chastain, who wore dark silver oval nails with her sequined dress. Celebrity nail artist and educator, Julie Kandalec, created the look.

Laverne Cox had aqua blue tips designed by celebrity stylist Eri Ishizu to match the top of her intricate gown.

Elisabeth Olsen’s plain, short dark burgundy nails were by celebrity nail artist, Thuy Nyugen.

Of his design for Marion Cotillard, celebrity MANicurist Tom Bachik wrote on his Instagram page: “We loved the idea of a shimmery bronze metallic to play off her black @ chanelofficial jumpsuit to give us a deep mixed-metals metallic for a bit of an edge.”

Bachik also created the plainest of plain looks for Michelle Williams that looked perfect with her ethereal gown – nude glossy short nails with a slither of a silver tip.

Ana De Armas was all about the pale – from her dress to her nails, which had a totally natural look broken by a few silver flakes on the tips. Said nails were by Hollywood stylist Ashlie Johnson, who wrote on her Instagram page: “I cut and filed the tips into a short natural almond shape. These tips are also the perfect colour so I didn’t need to paint them! Next I sprinkled the silver flakes onto an uncured top coat. Cured, then applied another layer of top coat for extra shine.”

Rihanna had scarlet, long squoval nails in the same shade as her lips, all offset by her striking black dress. Her immaculately manicured hands cradled her growing baby bump.

Eva Longoria opted for a super sparkly silver dress and chrome nails in the same shade and in a really impressive length.

Cara Delevingne’s blood red ball gown was so spectacular that she only needed nude stiletto nails to complement it. Nails were by Thuy Nguyen.
