LAMPROBE
Atrophic scars, like acne scarring and other indented scars from injury or chicken pox, can be effectively treated with Lamprobe RFCIT. With this method a controlled injury is created by using a specific technique and radiofrequency technology whereby a selected probe is inserted underneath the depressed scar, no matter the size, shape of the scar or age of the scar.
The Lamprobe RFCIT probes specifically under the selected scar. It is a skilled technique that can be performed by Somatologists. The Lamprobe RFCIT stimulates circulation directly into the damaged extracellular matrix within the dermis, oxygenating this non-active area of the skin, increasing nutrition to the cells, and creating cell division. The renewal and regeneration setting puts an entire healing cascade in motion where new collagen and elastin fibres are produced and tonofibrils are activated. In addition, a variety of anti-fibrotic growth factors like TGF B3 (Beta 3) are released to break down old fibrous scar tissue.
The targeted area is also made smaller by the contraction of myofibroblasts. Fibroblasts in the dermis proliferate with the help of growth factors with a glycoprotein called fibronectin, resulting in the conduit for fibroblasts and they start producing HA. Increased HA limits the negative effects of pro-fibrotic growth factors. Collagenase, an enzyme released during the healing process, breaks down inappropriately orientated collagen molecules, so new collagen that was laid down in a chaotic manner, becomes orientated.
Post treatment the skin has erythema that lasts in the area for approximately 2 to 7 days depending on the age of the person, where the scar is on the face or body, the person’s general health with regards to comorbidities, tissue ischemia, and the width and depth of the scar. An anti-bacterial ointment is prescribed post treatment. A significant improvement can be observed after one treatment and an exponential improvement with each additional treatment. Intervals between treatments are advised by the skin professional depending on the type of scar, and the technique required for the specific scar.
Combination treatments can also enhance the general health of the surrounding skin tissue, which may include micro needling, radio frequency, laser and IPL, and Hydo Pen Therapy.
