Use snowflake nails to add a refreshing touch to summer style
Snowflakes on a summer manicure not only create contrast but also offer a unique way to express personal style, blending the aesthetic of a winter Christmas with the energy of summer. Here’s a step-by-step from Bio Sculpture to offer your clients a playful, refreshing twist to their seasonal style.
Step 1
Apply your base layer, followed by 2 layers of colour gel. I used Evo Hestia as my colour of choice. Make sure to cure in between each layer.
Step 2
Choose a glitter of your choice; I used Evo Monique and applied it to the tip of your nail. Before curing, take an ombre brush and slowly start working your glitter towards the other end of the nail, creating an ombre-like effect.
Steps 3 and 4
Apply some more glitter at the end to create more pigment. Make sure that it still blends smoothly with the rest of the glitter. After curing, apply a thin layer of base gel. I used Bio Base. Cure your base layer and wipe for a smooth surface to start your art on.
Step 5
Pick a highly pigmented white gel—I used Bio Myrrh—then dip your fine brush into the gel—I used the Bio Sculpture Fine Art Brush—and start drawing your lines structured in a cross. Cure your lines. This will serve as the foundation upon which you can begin creating a snowflake.
Step 6
Pick up some white gel (not too much), then offload your white on the side of your line, slowly dragging your brush from the outside back into the line. Make sure to start releasing pressure as you drag your brush inwards. Continue this with all of your lines until you are satisfied.
Step 7
Using a dotting tool, dip the side of the tool you want to use based on the size of the dots you’d like to create into your white gel and place some dots at the end of each line, then pick up some of your glitter gel and place in the middle of each snowflake.
Step 8
Finish off your look with a glossy top coat. I used Evo Gloss Top Coat. Cure this layer, then wipe and enjoy your pretty Christmas snowflakes.
