Top beauty and nail looks at Cannes

If we had to pinpoint a standout make-up look at Cannes, it would have to be strong black eyeliner, while on the nails side, pale milky-coloured nails were particularly prevalent.

Winnie Harlow @winnieharlow

1 While several stars were seen rocking eyeliner on both upper and lower lids, Canadian supermodel Winnie Harlow went one step further with a graphic cat’s eye.

Julia Garner @juliagarnerofficial

2 Actress of the moment, Julia Garner, also made a statement for strong eyeliner, which was fabulously set off by icy-toned shadow and pale lips. Johnny Depp’s actress daughter, Lily Rose Depp, sported a similar look, albeit with smokier eyes.

In addition, British singer and current ‘it girl’, Dua Lipa, also went the strong eyeliner route, although you had to peer behind her intrusive, cheek-length gelled bangs to ascertain it.

Gemma Chan @gemmachan

3 Fellow Brit, actress Gemma Chan, looked stunning with her fully lined eyes.

A contrasting look was seen on Idris Elba’s wife, model Sabrina Dhowre, who wore subtly lined eyes and dazzling silver shadow to match her sparkly dress.

Making the case for strong red lips and pale everything else were Scarlett Johansson and model Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

Elsa Hosk @hoskelsa

4 Swedish model Elsa Hosk looked like a Barbie Doll, what with heavy upper lashes, loads of blue eyeshadow and pouty nude lips outlined in a darker hue. And yes, she did wear a crazy ‘double bustier’ dress.

Naomi Campbell @naomi

5 Flying the flag for plain, milky nails, in a squoval shape and mid-length, was perennial supermodel, Naomi Campbell. Said look complemented her lovely sparkly dress.

Caroline Daur @carodaur

6 German fashion blogger and model Caroline Daur wore her milk-coloured nails short.

Catherine Zeta-Jones @ catherinezetajones

7 Also sporting short white-ish nails was Hollywood icon and Oscar-winner, Catherine Zeta-Jones, who wowed in her Elie Saab Couture gown.

Laura Harrier @lauraharrier

8 Then there was model and actress Laura Harrier, who wore her nails in a longish almond shape.
