RF MICRONEEDLING

WHEN AESTHETIC TECHNOLOGIES COMBINE

Here we look at devices that offer a combination of microneedling and radiofrequency

Venus Viva

The Venus Viva micro-pins or blades are not designed for mechanical penetration but to act as the delivery mode for radiofrequency (RF) energy to penetrate the skin up to 500 µm. A recent study on the depth of pigmentation, https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-020-71220-6, showed that ‘at the depths of ≈ 35–40 µm the basal layer is located where melanocytes are usually localized’. Hence Venus Viva technology is indicated for pigmentation and safe for all skin tones, unlike light-based solutions.

The Venus Viva also has regulatory clearance for acne and trauma scar revision, fine and deep lines, rosacea, dyschromia, textural irregularities such as enlarged pores and generally neglected skin, as well as stretch marks. Venus Viva achieves this with three highly advanced modes of treatment in one device with two applicators. Often, a patient’s skin cannot immediately be exposed to needling, so it needs to be prepared over a period of time. Now, you can reduce preparation time with a combination of products and powerful technology.

The Diamond Polar RF applicator: the key feature of all Venus Concept radiofrequency treatments is the combination of RF and PEMF (pulsed electro-magnetic fields) — the trademarked Venus Concept (MP)2or multipolar RF and magnet pulse.

If only RF is applied, then the body takes a few days to register the need for collagen replacement. PEMF, however, immediately SIMULATES the neuro-signal for growth-factor release and causes the production of new fibroblast cells, which produce new and additional collagen and elastin, strengthening the overall skin matrix. New blood vessels are produced, leading to better circulation and nutrient flow to the treatment site, which appears more glowing and the skin healthier. From the first touch, (MP)2treatments enable comprehensive bioactivity in the skin and prepare it optimally for the nanofractional treatment that follows to targets specific skin concerns.

Says Gary Price of distributor Astra Health: “The release of FGF-2 (growth factors) therefore makes #venustreatments the best combination treatment as a preparatory treatment ahead of any more invasive procedure; it sets the natural healing process in motion with immediate effect and continues to be active for 90 days after each treatment.”

The Venus Viva nanofractional RF applicator creates non-mechanical micro-channels in comparison to fractional ablation and mechanical needling — the “nano” prefix is therefore an important distinction. 160 channels/wounds are formed with RF energy (not mechanical penetration). The blade-shaped electrodes create wound openings of a fixed size, much smaller than its mechanical competitors. There is thus much less damage and no “torn” tissue in each channel below the surface, and with sufficient healthy surrounding stem cell activity to aid the healing process at the target, greatly reducing the risk of infection.

With complete control over ablation (depth, controlled by voltage/power) and coagulation (the width of thermal damage around the vaporised column, controlled by time), it is possible to assess the target lesion (acne scar/ trauma scar/ pigment/ rosacea/ pigmentation/ enlarged pore/ wrinkle/line/ general skin resurfacing) to accurately set the ablation/coagulation for optimal, predictable results, according to the target to be treated.

Energy is delivered individually to each pin through SmartScanTMtechnology for added patient safety. The Venus Viva’s pattern generator enables only selected pins where a specific target shape and size requires even more customisation.

Secret RF

Distributed by DoPro Healthcare Solutions, Secret RF by Ilooda offers a wide choice of pin lengths, permitting therapy at a depth of 0.5mm to 3.5mm, with 0.1 incriments.

Secret RF options include non-insulated and semi-insulated microneedles, all goldplated. The correct amount of energy can be delivered for the condition being treated. Built-in motion control technology limits unpredictable build-up of heat in the skin, ensuring a high safety level.

Various heads are available, from the 25 pin head to the wider 64 pin heads, to match the size of the treatment area.

Six Aesthetix

Fractional RF Microneedling penetrates the skin at a precise depth with tiny needles, before releasing a burst of RF heat. This stimulates your skin to begin healing and thus collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production are also encouraged.

Six Aesthetix RF Microneedling uses a 25 pin or 49 pin or 89 pin microneedle head to deliver fractional RF energy into varying levels of the skin, including the deeper layers where the treatment is most beneficial.
